Melissa Kitzman

Midwife and Nurse Practitioner

Melissa Kitzman worked in the Nursing field for 11 years before pursuing both her Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner license. She trained in one of the top 5 rated Nursing schools in the United States – Georgetown University. She has clinical experiencing in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Home Health Care, Education, Administration, and Quality Assurance. She has held posts at both McLaren of Greater Lansing and St. John Providence Medical Center in the Emergency Department and Coronary Intensive Care Unit as a Staff Nurse. She has extensive experience in the Genesys health system in the hospital's Emergency Department and the Home Health and Hospice department. Melissa Kitzman's wide range of expertise in the nursing field made her the ideal candidate to join our practice.

Melissa Kitzman is primarily dedicated to the study and care of obstetrics at Flint Ob/Gyn. As part of the obstetric experience at our practice patients are likely to have their health managed by Melissa Kitzman periodically to ensure collaborative and comprehensive care. She shares her research in lactation, nutritional health, childbirth preparation, and weight control with our patients as part of her ongoing study. As a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner her patients also receive the management of their gynecological and full system heath management.

Melissa is married to a Massage Therapist named Shawn and together they have a handsome young boy, Gabe. Their family is active in the Fenton community and outdoors playing just about every sport on Earth. She is very interested in volunteering or coordinating community health programs to improve the lives of all those around us. We are very proud to have Melissa Kitzman in our practice to tend the health of all our patients and especially their unborn children.

Melissa Kitzman is currently the only Midwife practicing and delivering in Genesee County (Flint, Fenton, Grand Blanc, etc….). She prefers to take a more clinical approach to midwifery for the safety of mother and child; however, she are more than willing to allow their patients the freedom to have the birthing experience they are seeking.
